Attarassa


Attarassa

Attarassa (also known as Nei Appa, Nayappam) is a South Indian specialty, slightly sweet in taste and goes great as part of Morning breakfast or Evening snack.

Ingredients

1 big cup Rice (Sona masoori, Kolum or any kind but not Basmati or boiled rice)
A handful of Urad Dal (Black gram/lentil)
1 tsp Methi seeds (Fenugreek seeds)
1 ripe Banana
A handful of Murmura (puffed rice)
3/4 cup Grated Coconut
1/2 tsp Cardamom powder (Elaichi)
1 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
3/4 cup Jaggery (Gud)
2 pinch of Salt
Oil for Deep fry

Directions

Soak the rice, urad dal and methi seeds in water at least for six hours.
Throw the water in which you had soaked the above ingredients. Wash everything with fresh water 2 times.
Then put the soaked ingredients in a Mixer. Add all the other ingredients and a little water. Crush it in the mixer.
The Batter should not be very thick or very loose. It should easily drop from the spoon.
Now deep fry and serve.
