Palak Pakoda (Spinach Fritters)
Palak Pakoda a tasty delight can be served as a appetizer or a snack, tastes great anytime.
Ingredients
1 cup chopped and cleaned spinach leaves (methi) (you can also use defrosted frozen spinach
available in the frozen section2 cups gram flour (besan)
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp coriander seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder or 1-2 green chillies chopped per your preference
1 tsp garlic paste
1/2 onion sliced
1 tsp dhania jeera powder
Salt to taste
1 pinch soda bicarb
oil for deep frying
Note: To make methi pakoras substitute spinach leaves with methi leaves
Directions
In bowl mix the flour, spinach leaves,onions,cumin seeds, turmeric red chilli powder/green chilies, salt, corinder seeds, dhania jeera powder, garlic paste.Do not add any water, keep this aside, the spinach and onions will shed water
Heat oil in a frying pan to deep fry the pakoda's, when the oil is hot add spoonsful of the pakoda batter into the oil
Fry the pakoda's turning it over until well cooked
Serve with mint/coriander and mint chutney .Goes well with tomato ketchup
