Pulliogre
Pulliogre is a simple tamarind based sauce with seasoning mixed with rice. This is one of my favourite recipes
Ingredients
2 cups raw rice cooked (you can cook this in a rice cooker or any method you use to cook rice, be sure to add salt)4-5 tbsp MTR pulliogre mix (you can use any brand, I tried others, and prefer MTR)
1/2 cup peanuts roasted
1 tsp mustard seeds
5 tsp oil
2-3 whole dried red chillies
1 pinch hing
2-3 curry leaves
Directions
Cook the rice with salt. scrape and loosen the rice with a fork to keep the rice grains separate and keep it asideIn a wok or vessel heat oil and add the peanuts, if raw fry until cooked
Add the mustard seeds and when it begins to pop add the hing, red chillies and curry leaves
When the chillies begin to fry add the pulliogre mix and stir together, sprinkle some water to make it like a paste
Add the rice and mix it well with the pulliogre paste
If you prefer tangier pulliogre in a separate vessel heat some oil and add 1-2 tbsp of the pulliogre mix and sprinkle somewater, mix this with the prepared pulliogre Garnish it with chopped cilantro.
